2012 Annual Report
In March 2012, Gary Vikan announced his intention to retire from the position to which he was appointed in April 1994; by the end of the fiscal year the Board had formed a committee, and the search for my replacement had begun. His successor will inherit a superb collection, a wonderful staff, and a meaningful mission. It was an ambitious and innovative year for exhibitions, nearly half of all visitors to the Walters participated in a variety of education programs at the museum and this was an enormously significant year for the Walters in its strategy to create a world-wide digital identity.
