The Walters Research Forum

The Walters Research Forum seeks to foster a congenial setting for sharing new scholarship in art history, conservation, and museum studies. It welcomes proposals for topics relevant to the work of Walters curators, conservators, and fellows. Its format is flexible, including round table discussions and seminars with invited participants from area museums and universities, as well as more conventional lecture-style presentations by Walters curators, conservators, or fellows, or by invited outside specialists. The Walters Research Forum also includes scholarly symposia organized in conjunction with special exhibitions and projects.

Academic Outreach

The Walters Research Forum collaborates with a select number of prestigious academic institutions to promote the results of its research. Partnership with the Program in Museums and Society at the Johns Hopkins University provides undergraduate students with hands-on experience in the development of exhibitions and the display of works of art in a museum setting. Classes have been held at the museum in the history of the book in association with Rare Book School at the University of Virginia.
