Egypt's Mysterious Book of the Faiyum Teacher Workshop Part One

This two-part workshop focused on the fall special exhibition, Egypt’s Mysterious Book of the Faiyum, will feature interactive demonstrations about ancient Egyptian artistic practice. 

Part one on October 16, 2013  will include a guided tour by exhibition curator Marden Nichols, Walters’ Assistant Curator of Ancient Art, and a studio activity in which participants will create their own papyrus sample.  Light refreshments will be served.

Extend your exhibition experience by attending Part Two of the workshop on October 30th where participants will work with Walters’ Senior Conservator Elissa O’Loughlin to create their own paints using natural materials and ancient techniques.

Sponsored by the Boshell Foundation. This Gilded Age Talk celebrates the new installation, From Rye to Raphael: The Walters Story. A book signing follows.
