Peabody Strings Orchestra

The Peabody Performance Academy for Strings Orchestra returns to the Walters Art Gallery to present a program including Samuel Barber’s Adagio, and other classics for string orchestra. The ensemble will be conducted by Maestro Edward Polochick, artistic director of Concert Artists of Baltimore.

The Performance Academy for Strings, directed by Christian Tremblay, is a program that brings together young string players who are seriously committed to their instrument and development as musicians. This performance is the conclusion of a three-week intensive String Orchestra Festival.

Learning by Watching: Andean Textiles and the Fabric of Culture

Andean textile specialist Dr. Anne Tiballi, the Andrew W. Mellon Curricular Facilitator at the University of Pennsylvania Museum of Archaeology and Anthropology, will present “Learning by Watching: Andean Textiles and the Fabric of Culture.” During this engaging talk, Dr. Tiballi will explore the production of ancient American textiles, examine their significance, and discuss their impact on the broader material culture of the ancient Americas.
