Science in Art Museums? A Conversation About Public Value, Access, and Education

Science in Art Museums? A Conversation About Public Value, Access, and Education

Date Thursday, June 18, 2015

Time 07:00 PM–08:30 PM

What role does science play in our understanding of art objects, and how is it being integrated into the museum experience? How can scientific results be successfully translated for the public and what are the challenges in taking on this type of translation? Join us for a lively panel discussion about some of the important overlaps between art and science. The program will feature moderator Francesca Bewer, Research Curator at the Harvard Art Museum’s Straus Center for Conservation and Technical Studies; speaker Susan Roberts-Manganelli, Director of the Art and Science Learning Lab at Stanford University; and senior Walters staff from the education, curatorial, and conservation departments as panelists.
