Homeschool Workshop: Exploring the African Presence 10-12

In this special exhibition workshop, students will examine paintings, sculptures and printed books to discover the multi-dimensional role Africans played in Renaissance Europe.  Participants will make personal connections between cultural issues affecting race and identity in the 16th century and now, and consider the importance of portraiture as a window into society.

Explore the Walters through this workshop designed exclusively for homeschool students ages 5-12. Participants enjoy an introduction to the museum, a guided tour, studio activity and post-visit materials.
