Drop-In Art Activities: Heroes and Legends

In January, lace up your gladiator boots and polish your javelins to celebrate the upcoming Olympic season. Honor your own heroes through painting and portraiture. Adorn your own amphorae with the legend that you have lived to tell! Sculpt and celebrate a mythical creature that shares the same strong traits that you do! Join us in celebrating Martin Luther King Jr., as well as heroes from the past and present, at our Family Festival on Monday, January 20th from 10am-4pm!

Every Saturday and Sunday! No registration is required. Drop-in, make, and take a fantastic piece of art home with you!

Join museum educators as they help families create artful projects related to the collection, special exhibitions, and family programs. Check out our monthly themes and visit often to participate in a different project each weekend!

Learning by Watching: Andean Textiles and the Fabric of Culture

Andean textile specialist Dr. Anne Tiballi, the Andrew W. Mellon Curricular Facilitator at the University of Pennsylvania Museum of Archaeology and Anthropology, will present “Learning by Watching: Andean Textiles and the Fabric of Culture.” During this engaging talk, Dr. Tiballi will explore the production of ancient American textiles, examine their significance, and discuss their impact on the broader material culture of the ancient Americas.
