Walk, Wonder & Create Tour: Navigate the Nile 1PM

Attention sailors! Climb onto our ship and travel up Egypt’s revered Nile with your museum captain. Travel the longest river in the world as you learn about the ancient civilizations that thrived due in large part to the water and fertile soil. From the routines of daily life to stories of gods and goddesses, you won’t want to miss the first of a two-month Egyptian exploration!

Recommended for ages 6-8. One guardian per two children required.

Graduated from our pre-k program?  Join the big kids and their adults for our popular Walk, Wonder, and Create family tours! For ages 6 and up, this once-a-month 45-minute experience allows families to enjoy an interactive tour of the Walters’ collection, and then create artwork that relates to the theme of the tour.

Please note: Online pre-registration required. Fall 2013 (August-January) Program registration will be available in July: July 1 - Member registration begins; July 8 - Public registration begins. Museum members can register early for this popular series!

Learning by Watching: Andean Textiles and the Fabric of Culture

Andean textile specialist Dr. Anne Tiballi, the Andrew W. Mellon Curricular Facilitator at the University of Pennsylvania Museum of Archaeology and Anthropology, will present “Learning by Watching: Andean Textiles and the Fabric of Culture.” During this engaging talk, Dr. Tiballi will explore the production of ancient American textiles, examine their significance, and discuss their impact on the broader material culture of the ancient Americas.
