Calling all scouts! The Walters Art Museum invites Girl Scouts to learn about the wonderful world of art while earning merit badges. This interactive, two-hour program includes:
• Guided tour of selected artworks by a trained educator
• Hands-on art activity based on specific badge guidelines
• Specially-designed Walters’ participatory patch
Just for Jr. & Brownie Girl Scouts!
Price: $10 per scout; no charge for adult chaperones.
From farmers to Pharaohs and tombs to temples, uncover the mysterious culture of ancient Egypt! Imagine life along the banks of the flooding Nile as we explore The Walters’ extensive collection of art and artifacts from the ancient world. Spend your afternoon discovering daily life and sacred rituals, come face to face with deities, and decode the secret messages left behind by scribes. Guided by a Museum Educator, your scouts’ voyage through desert storms and along the world’s longest river will showcase the gods, traditions, and relics of the once thriving ancient civilization of Egypt. Meander into our studios to create a work of art inspired by the treasures found in our galleries. Daisy Girl Scouts will work towards their Tula Petal. Brownie Girl Scouts will work towards their Potter badge. Junior Girl Scouts will work towards their Playing the Past badge. Cub Scouts will work towards their Art Academics Pin or Belt Loop during this interactive, two-hour exploration!

Gallery Drawing Family Workshop: Gesture Drawing

NEW! Join us for a brand-new family drawing workshop! Young artists are invited to strengthen their observational drawing skills and build their portfolios while exploring works of art in the Walters’ collection. Let go of preconceived notions of drawing and find freedom in line, expression, and mark-making. Recommended for ages 9–13 and their favorite adults.

Join us for a morning of accessible museum programming designed specifically for children with Sensory Processing Disorders and their entire family. Enjoy the collections of the Walters Art Museum during quiet, less stimulating hours. Tour selected galleries, participate in multiple hands-on stations that include tactile activities, visual supports, and interpretive materials, and create a work of art in the comfort of a private studio.
