Margot Shaw, founder and editor-in-chief of the magazine flower will give a lecture and demonstration in the Graham Auditorium followed by a luncheon on the Sculpture Court. Arrangements will be auctioned following the lecture.

Seeing Music in Medieval Manuscripts

This exhibition, composed of approximately twenty manuscripts and objects, will explore music in its relationship with philosophy, religion, and the arts during the Middle Ages. Musical harmony and dissonance were thought to mirror the perfection of heaven as well as the disorder of evil.

Visitors will engage in dialogue about the art in the galleries with John Shields, the Walters’ Manager of Docent Programs, and jazz violinist David Schulman, who will provide musical interpretations. You won't want to miss this unique gallery experience.
