For teachers of grades K-2

During the teacher preview tour, you will explore the galleries with a museum educator, receive materials to help plan tours, and have the opportunity to ask questions to plan student visits. 

In this tour, use the themes of nature and community to examine the different ways that artists depicted real and imaginary animals and habitats. Prepare students to use the four elements of art—line, color, shape, and texture—to discuss observations of animals.

Inge Reist will bring alive the personalities of Gilded Age collectors as they formed some of America’s most dazzling and admired collections. Her talk will also explore their motivations and methods of acquisition, as well as their philanthropic legacies. Reist is Director of the Center for the History of Collecting at the Frick Collection and Frick Art Reference Library.
