Sail down the Ganges River to a place of vibrant color, spicy smells and mesmerizing music. Spend the entire month of June escaping to India with us! Travel through the Thar desert to collect sand to create your mandala. Wear your rhythmic jewelry and listen to the sound of each step as you hike the Himalayas. Join us as we explore the outline of an elephant using light-make sure to hold on tight as he carries us on a journey through the art of India!

The Walters Art Museum and the Baltimore Office of Promotion & The Arts (BOPA) present the Janet and Walter Sondheim Artscape Prize Finalists Exhibition. Artists compete for top honors and a $25,000 fellowship in the Greater Baltimore area’s most prestigious arts competition. Held in conjunction with Artscape (July 19–21), America’s largest free arts festival, the finalists and semifinalists exhibitions are presented in partnership with the Walters and Maryland Institute College of Art.

Come hear Jessye Norman, one of America's most accomplished and beloved opera singers, discuss her new book Stand Up Straight and Sing! This Grammy Award-winning international opera star will offer perspectives on her life—from growing up in the South to performing on the world’s greatest stages in conversation with Tom Hall, music director of the Baltimore Choral Arts Society. Tickets $25 (includes one book).

Learning by Watching: Andean Textiles and the Fabric of Culture

Andean textile specialist Dr. Anne Tiballi, the Andrew W. Mellon Curricular Facilitator at the University of Pennsylvania Museum of Archaeology and Anthropology, will present “Learning by Watching: Andean Textiles and the Fabric of Culture.” During this engaging talk, Dr. Tiballi will explore the production of ancient American textiles, examine their significance, and discuss their impact on the broader material culture of the ancient Americas.
