January 26, 2009 launches the Chinese New Year—the Year of the Ox. The Walters Art Museum launches a year long celebration of the arts of China, Japan and India with a traditional Lion Dance that promises blessing and prosperity while guarding against misfortunate and dispelling evil spirits. Experience the beat of exhilarating drums, crashing cymbals and ringing gongs, as the Johns Hopkins University Lion Dance Troupe brings good fortune for this New Year.
