Aleksandra Domanovic (b. 1981 in Novi Sad/SRB) is a Berlin-based artist who graduated from the University of Applied Arts in Vienna in 2006. She works primarily on the internet, and much of her art contrasts and recontextualizes content derived online, such as found videos and Google Maps, in an effort to establish a dialogue between these different materials. Her work focuses on profound social and media-technological transformations and their interdependence.
Some of her most well-known works include Turbo Sculpture, which is featured here in Peer One; 19:30, a recipient of the 2009-2010 Rhizome Commission; and the ongoing art blog VVork.com.
She has been featured in a number of major exhibitions, including Based in Berlin; Free at the New Museum; and Padiglione Internet, a collateral event of the 2009 Venice Biennale. Recent solo shows include Shanzai Turbo (with Oliver Laric) at Western Front, Vancouver.
