Bannister-Lewis-Tanner Circle

Formerly known as the African American Steering Committee, the Bannister-Lewis-Tanner Circle is celebrating its 20th year in 2010. The committee was recently re-named to celebrate the addition to the Walters’ permanent collection, works by 19th century African American artists Edward Mitchell Bannister, Edmonia Lewis, and Henry Ossawa Tanner. An advisory committee of the Board of Trustees, with members drawn from the community’s business, political, educational, religious, and social leadership, the Circle serves to strengthen communication, involvement, and support of the African American community with the exhibitions and programs of the Walters. Membership is open to all.

Member of the the Bannister-Lewis-Tanner Circle must be current members of the museum. The annual fee for joining this exciting group is an additional $50 for a membership.
