The Walters Gala and Party

Indulge your senses—with drinking, dining, and dancing—amid foliage evoking a lush enclosed garden, one of the great pleasures of courtly life in the Middle Ages. The 2016 Gala and Party at the Walters is inspired by the international loan exhibition, A Feast for the Senses: Art and Experience in Medieval Europe. Libations evoking autumnal fruits, such as apples and pears, will complement a succulent banquet, as minstrels delight the crowd before a deejay takes over. Adorn yourself with fragrant flowers and come partake in a joyful celebration designed to ignite the senses!

On view from October 16, 2016, to January 8, 2017, A Feast for the Senses brings together some 130 works dating from the 12th to the 16th century, including paintings, tapestries, metalwork, manuscripts, and prints. The exhibition explores the potential of the senses to experience art by inviting visitors to encounter these works with more than just their eyes.
