Visitor Hospitality Specialist
Visitor Hospitality Specialists are an essential element of the museum's frontline for creating a friendly and comfortable environment for visitors to experience our art. As hospitality hosts, they warmly welcome visitors and answer questions at the Information Desk and over the telephone. They distribute floor plans and exhibition guides and answer questions about the days events, museum facilities; area restaurants, transportation, and Baltimore attractions.
Requirements
- Excellent communication skills, both in person and over the phone
- Warm, outgoing and professional public presence
- Interest in making each visitors experience the best it can be
- Able to stand for extended periods and occasionally lift up to 10 pounds
- Basic computer literacy, including familiarity with the Internet
- Knowledge of the Baltimore area
- At least a high school graduate
Training and Commitment After successful completion of an orientation and training program, volunteers commit to working two regularly scheduled or on-call three-hour shifts per month for one year. Shifts are Wednesday through Sunday, Friday nights, and occasionally on holiday Mondays. Shift hours will normally be: 11 a.m. to 2 p.m., 2 p.m. to 5 p.m., or, on Friday nights, 5 p.m. to 8 p.m.
