Norman Steinman fought in the Philippines in 1945 in the 25th Infantry Division, and after his death in 1990, his daughter, Louise, discovered a box of letters and souvenirs. The discovery of a silk Japanese flag launched her on a journey to Hiroshima and the fallen Japanese soldier’s home, exposing grim realities of war and her father’s postwar melancholy.
