Secular and Religious Melodies from the American Recorder Society
Perhaps the earliest portrayal of a recorder appears in an 11th century carving on a stone pillar in the church at Boubon-l'Achambault, St George, France. Since 2009, musicians from the Baltimore region have played at the Walters Art Museum, celebrating this unique instrument.
Musicians from the American Recorder Society will play traditional medieval music throughout the museum. The musical selection will feature ancient recorder melodies that still continue to resonate today.
