What: Lost and Found: Opening Day Talk by Curator Will Noel
Exhibition curator Will Noel shares the story of The Archimedes Palimpsest. From the birth of its texts in the cradle of Western civilization to their obliteration in Jerusalem in 1229 to their recovery in Baltimore 700 years later, these documents faced an epic and perilous journey. Preceding Noel’s talk is a brief overview of Archimedes’ most important achievements by Mario Livio, astrophysicist and author of Is God a Mathematician?
