Red Fish & Wave Tea Cup

This attractive tea cup features a fish joyfully jumping through the waves that wrap around it. The sea bream, also known as tai in Japanese, has long been considered a king among fish in Japan. A symbol of wealth and prosperity it also signifies high quality; it is the elite fish of the well-known proverb, Kusattemo tai, or "No matter how spoiled it may be, it's still tai"—the implication being that no matter how reduced in circumstances, someone of quality is still respected. The 10 ounce ceramic tea cup measures 2 3/4 x 4 inches.
