To create a personal narrative in the studio, your child will first delve into the ideas, stories, and historical events depicted in art from around the globe. Campers will be joined by contemporary ceramicist Roberto Lugo to create a personal narrative in the studio. The group will view Lugo’s work, which will be on display at 1 West Mount Vernon Place as well as the Walters’ collection of European porcelain; discuss ideas surrounding portraiture and ornamentation; and paint their own portraits and stories on porcelain place settings.
Led by professional educators and practicing artists, campers learn art-making skills using a variety of materials, and develop lifelong creativity. Campers meet new friends in a fun, playful environment, explore cultures from around the world, and collaborate to prepare a showcase of what they’ve learned.
Extended hours make camp more convenient. Museum staff will supervise free-play and provide games and activities.
