Drop-in Art Making: Precious Collections

Sunday, November 3, 2024, 11 a.m.–4 p.m.

Location: Level 3 Lobby
No registration required.

Some collections are for personal enjoyment, while others, like museum collections, are meant to be shared with others. As we celebrate 90 years since the Walters Art Museum first opened its doors to the public, displaying our foundational collection of some 22,000 objects, we want to know what objects are precious to you. At this fun, hands-on workshop, we invite you to create a memory box to store your keepsakes and treasured objects!

This special edition of our Drop-in program has extended hours from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. in conjunction with the Walters Day of Giving. This year, we celebrate the museum’s 90th anniversary, and we’re asking art lovers to help us raise $9,000 in one day to conserve objects for Latin American Art / Arte Latinoamericano, opening in May 2025.

Drop-in Art Making is a program for art lovers of all ages and abilities to get creative and make a work of art inspired by our collection. Come with your family, friends, or on your own. Join us for a little while or stay the whole time!

Drop-in Art Making is made possible thanks to generous support from BGE and The Walters Women’s Committee Legacy Endowment.

Available Resources: Sensory Kits, Headphones, Spanish-Language Printed Materials
