Over the last several months, Baltimore-based artist Krystal Mack of Studio IAO and PalatePALETTE Zine has undertaken a research project into some of the narratives and histories of 1 West Mt. Vernon Place. Her efforts will culminate in a temporary installation and series of free programs highlighting Sybby Grant, an enslaved cook for the home’s initial residents.
Mack will lead a special listening party in collaboration with The Baltimore Kissa Society. Guests can listen to vinyl recordings of jazz songs that have inspired the artist and her collaborators during cooking and food preparation over the course of their lives.
