Teen Art Workshop

Learn how to think like an artist while experimenting with different mediums through observation, dialogue, and practice in the Walters’ galleries and studios. During this monthly workshop, work with instructors during a single session to learn basic skills, or attend multiple sessions to develop expertise.

Did you know the Walters has a Teen Arts Council? WAMTAC members and museum staff will discuss the history of objects in the museum’s collection and why these works continue to be relevant today.

Summer Camp Grades 6-8: Architecture and Design

Date: Monday, July 30, 2018–Friday, August 3, 2018

Time: 09:00 AM–04:00 PM

From spiral staircases to towering monuments, campers will explore buildings and architectural elements throughout history, then design and construct models and masterpieces in the studio.

Summer Camp Grades 6-8: Storytellers in Art

Date: Monday, August 6, 2018–Friday, August 10, 2018

Time: 09:00 AM–04:00 PM

To create a personal narrative in the studio, your child will first delve into the ideas, stories, and historical events depicted in art from around the globe. Campers will be joined by contemporary artist Roberto Lugo. The group will view Lugo’s work on display in 1 West as well as the Walters’ collection of European porcelain; discuss ideas surrounding portraiture and ornamentation; and paint their own portraits and stories on porcelain place settings.
