6th-8th Grade Artist's Studio Experience: Intro to Observational Drawing

Date

Monday, August 8, 2011Friday, August 12, 2011

Time

10:00 AM–04:00 PM

Registration Ended

What a marvelous selection of objects to draw!  Our statues stay still and the paintings beg to be sketched!  Examine the art and drawing techniques of the masters as we explore the galleries and learn new skills. Students will sketch in sketchbooks everyday and explore a variety of drawing materials and techniques. Participants will also complete large ambitious drawings and create an original portfolio to keep their work safe. Perfect for the student who may be considering applying to an arts magnet high school or the student who just loves to make art!

Our Artist’s Studio Experience offers 6th-12th graders the opportunity to work with a local practicing artist from a specialized field of fine art. Participants will discover art techniques used throughout history and learn about art terms and artists specific to the week’s theme as they create their own works of art. Each week, participants will also see examples of the teaching artist’s portfolio, and have the
opportunity to converse about art careers, portfolio development, and the vast applications of art. Magnet school students may work toward completing summer art requirements, and all participants will work to build an art portfolio. A great summer experience for young artists!
