Doodle 4 Google is a nationwide contest to redesign Google’s homepage banner around the theme “If I could travel in time, I’d visit…” The Walters is supporting Doodle 4 Google™ 2012 by encouraging students in kindergarten through 12th grade to participate.
Doodle 4 Google is one of several efforts by Google to encourage and celebrate the creativity of young people by asking students to create their own Google doodle. Doodle 4 Google gives students a blank canvas to harness their curiosity and imagine the past, present, and/or future anywhere in the world. After all doodles have been submitted, a team of Googlers and guest judges will help choose the top doodles. Then on May 2nd, Google will give the final vote to you, and one winner from each grade group will be chosen by a public vote. First prize will be awarded on May 17th, and their doodle will be showcased on google.com on May 18th. The national winner will also be awarded a $30,000 college scholarship.
Ten state finalists’ submissions will be exhibited in the Walters cafe from May 23–June 24, 2012. More information is available at http://www.google.com/doodle4google/.
