We invite members to join Joaneath Spicer, James A. Murnaghan Curator of Renaissance and Baroque Art, for an exclusive tour. Together you will explore a recently installed 15th-century Italian painting, one of three large panels depicting the romance of Helen, queen of the Greek city state of Sparta, and Paris, a Trojan prince. Like Botticelli's similarly sized Birth of Venus, these paintings functioned as palace decorations. This tour will also give you the opportunity to hear about the findings of a scholars' symposium on the subject occurring earlier in the week.
