Performances start at 7 p.m.

ART/SOUND/NOW is a new series that explores the synthesis of art and music, every fourth Thursday night this summer. Experience live music inspired by the art in the galleries, in concert with engaging talks from museum experts. A reception precedes each event where you can enjoy a free drink on us. Open to all ages.

This summer, the fourth Thursday of the month means unique tours at the Museum featuring art and live musical performances.

The third concert in the ART/SOUND/NOW series includes the diverse vocal stylings of soprano JoAnna Ford. Ms. Ford will be joined by Jo Briggs, assistant curator of 18th- and 19th-century art, for a guided musical tour of the special installation From Rye to Raphael: The Walters Story. This program features musical works inspired by the paintings of Edwin Lord Weeks, William Mulready, and others. With music ranging from classical to contemporary, Jo and JoAnna will explore themes of exoticism and folk art forms, while shedding light on the personal collecting habits of the Walters family. Ticket holders will enjoy a private bar, a complimentary drink voucher, and exclusive access to the Museum’s Level 4 galleries during this evening of intimate conversation and exciting music.

About the Musician

JoAnna Ford holds a Masters of Music in Vocal Performance from the University of Michigan School of Music. At Morgan State University, she was a frequently featured soloist with the renowned University Choir, singing in major venues such as the Kennedy Center, Baltimore Basilica, and National Theater of Ghana.  As a Fulbright Scholar in Germany, JoAnna studied music at the Humboldt University of Berlin, received her certificate of fluency in the German language, performed in recitals and concerts throughout the country, recorded for an independent German gospel label, and made her operatic debut as Despina in Mozart’s Cosi Fan Tutte.
