We seek an organized and creative individual who will work with the 14-person Education team to develop, implement, and evaluate programs and to teach in the galleries and art studio. Successful candidates are passionate about working with children and families and will coordinate programs that emphasize the following initiatives:  Activate the Collections; Engage through Personal Experiences; Create Innovative Partnerships; Strengthen  Accountability and Sustainability; and Build a Dynamic Team.

Position Responsibilities:

  • Coordinate Family Celebrations, Drop-in Art Activities, Family Tours, the Art Cart, and Summer Camp.
  • Communicate with administrator to ensure spaces are booked, registration is available online, and statistics are tracked.
  • Maintain program budget; order and organize supplies.
  • Write and edit lesson plans; teach in the galleries and studios.
  • Deliver positive experience by training and supporting museum educators, conducting and assessing program evaluation, and communicating with staff and caregivers.
  • Collaborate cross-departmentally on initiatives related to audience development and family engagement.

Experience and Skills:

Bachelor’s Degree in Fine Arts, Art Education, Museum Education, or Art History

Minimum one year of demonstrated experience creating, organizing, and implementing art and/or educational programs in a museum setting. Demonstrated experience in studio art and gallery teaching; experience in event and camp planning and management preferred. General knowledge of educational pedagogy and art history required. Excellent interpersonal and customer service skills. Excellent written and oral communication skills, including lesson writing and planning. Studio art skills, including experience and skills in teaching a variety of techniques to varying ages.  Proficient with Microsoft Office and Adobe Creative Suite.  Ability and enthusiastic desire to: work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment; interact with children of all ages, family groups, and diverse audiences; think creatively to inform and inspire museum audiences; provide positive customer service; tour groups in the museum galleries; and stand for long periods of time.
