This musical egg box is inspired by the Rose Trellis Easter Egg (Peter Carl Faberge, 1846-1920) found in the collection of the Walters Art Museum. It was commissioned by the Czar in 1907 as a gift for his wife to celebrate the birth of their son. Recent research has confirmed that the egg contained, as a surprise, a diamond necklace (now lost) with an ivory miniature of the Czarevich. Give your own surprise with this crystal encrusted enameled egg! Measuring approximately 4 ¼ x 2 ½ inches (including stand); the music box plays a segment of music from Swan Lake.
