Leon Bonvin Assorted Florals Notecards

This beautiful set of notecards feature floral watercolor paintings from Leon Bonvin, a great talent largely unrecognized by his contemporaries. Appreciation of his works during the 19th-century was confined to a small circle of connoisseurs and collectors, most prominent among them William T. Walters, founder of the Walters Art Museum. His collection of Bonvin’s work was acquired between 1862 and 1891 and eventually comprised 56 watercolors and one, rare oil; today this is the largest collection of his work in existence. Box includes 12 notecards and envelopes (2 each of 6 designs) and the cards measure approximately 4 x 6 inches.
