This two-part workshop focused on the fall special exhibition, Egypt’s Mysterious Book of the Faiyum, will feature interactive demonstrations about ancient Egyptian artistic practice.
Part one on October 16, 2013 will include a guided tour by exhibition curator Marden Nichols, Walters’ Assistant Curator of Ancient Art, and a studio activity in which participants will create their own papyrus sample. Light refreshments will be served.
Extend your exhibition experience by attending Part Two of the workshop on October 30th where participants will work with Walters’ Senior Conservator Elissa O’Loughlin to create their own paints using natural materials and ancient techniques.
The Walters Art Museum brings art and people together for enjoyment, discovery and learning.
We strive to create a place where people of every background can be touched by art.
