Include a Gift in Your Will or Trust

A future gift to support the mission of the Walters Art Museum is one that requires thought and preparation.

Many good planning techniques are available, and you should choose the one that best suits your personal objectives.

For example, a gift in your will or trust, otherwise known as a bequest, can be a stated dollar amount or you can leave specific property to the Walters. Some of our contributors prefer to designate a certain percentage of the remainder of their estate—the amount that remains after paying all debts, costs, and other prior legacies.

Whichever you prefer, you can direct that your bequest be used for our greatest needs or for a specific purpose you designate. Whatever your objectives, we will be happy to work with you in planning a gift that will be satisfying, economical, and effective in carrying out your wishes in our important mission.

  • Your assets remain in your control during your lifetime, and you can modify your gift to address changing circumstances.
  • Under current tax law, there is no upper limit on the estate tax deduction for your charitable bequests.
  • You provide future support to the Walters.

Follow these Steps:

  • Include a gift to the Walters in your will or trust.
  • Make your bequest unrestricted or work with the Walters to direct your gift to a specific purpose.
  • Indicate a specific amount or a percentage of the balance remaining in your estate or trust.
  • Let us know if you have already included the Walters in your estate plan or if you are considering doing so.
