Parking

A staffed parking lot is conveniently located across the street from the museum at Centre and Cathedral streets. Museum visitors are eligible for reduced rates so stop by the Visitor Information Desk to get your ticket stamped. Reduced rates are also available to museum visitors at the lot on 520 N. Charles Street.

There are many options for parking that are convenient to the Walters Art Museum:

  1. Centre Street Lot, on the corner of Cathedral and Centre Streets. This is the official Walters parking lot, located across the street from the main entrance.
  2. 520 North Charles Street, between Franklin and Hamilton. Reduced rates are available to museum visitors with stamped ticket.
  3. Franklin Street Garage, on Franklin between Charles and Cathedral Streets
  4. Arrow Parking Lot, (Enter from Park, Centre or Franklin Streets)
  5. 926 North Charles Street, between Eager and Read Streets
  6. 601 North Calvert Street (The Baltimore Sun Garage)
  7. Corner of Charles and Read
  8. Corner of Charles and Eager

Public Transit Directions

The Charm City Circulator is a free bus service in Baltimore. We encourage all of our residents and visitors to use this service—not only is it free, it's efficient. A shuttle arrives every 10 minutes at the designated stops on each route. The Walters Art Museum is along the purple route of the Charm City Circulator. That's stop number 307 on the purple route.

The Walters is located at 600 North Charles Street in Baltimore's historic Mt. Vernon Cultural District, about one mile north of the Inner Harbor and downtown business district. It is conveniently located near MTA bus lines (Nos. 3, 11, 31, 61, and 64) and the Centre Street Light Rail stop. The main entrance is located on Centre Street near the corner of Centre and Cathedral streets. Get public transit directions online.

Driving Directions

From points north of Baltimore (Philadelphia, New York)

Take I-95 south through the Fort McHenry Tunnel. Take exit 53 (I-395) north which is Martin Luther King Jr. Blvd. Once on Martin Luther King, Jr. Blvd., continue to Druid Hill Avenue. Turn right onto Druid Hill Avenue. Druid Hill Avenue becomes Centre Street. Proceed on Centre Street to Cathedral Street. The Walters Art Museum will be on the left.The public entrance to the museum is located on Centre Street, near the corner of Centre and Cathedral streets.

From points south of Baltimore (Washington, D.C., Northern Virginia)

Follow I-95 north to exit 53 (I-395) which is Martin Luther King Jr. Blvd. Once on Martin Luther King, Jr. Blvd., continue to Druid Hill Avenue. Turn right onto Druid Hill Avenue. Druid Hill Avenue becomes Centre Street. Proceed on Centre Street to Cathedral Street. The Walters Art Museum will be on the left. The public entrance to the museum is located on Centre Street, near the corner of Centre and Cathedral streets.

From points northwest of Baltimore (Harrisburg-York PA)

Follow I-83 south to exit 5, Maryland Avenue. Turn left at the top of the ramp onto Maryland Avenue. Maryland Avenue becomes Cathedral Street. Follow Cathedral to Centre Street. The Walters Art Museum will be on your left. The public entrance to the museum is on Centre Street, near the corner of Centre and Cathedral streets.
