Private Tours for Groups of 10 or More

Engage with centuries of human creativity and history at the Walters Art Museum through private group tours, which create opportunities for exploration, discussion, and creative expression in the galleries with friends, family, colleagues, and beyond. Groups of 10 or more planning a visit can request an interactive private group tour or a self-guided visit during public hours.

Private Group Tours

Private group tours are one-hour-long, staff-led experiences that blend conversational guided looking with creative exploration that is accessible for different abilities and learning styles. Groups must have a minimum of 10 people to book a tour. Customize your experience by choosing one tour theme and one activity your group will enjoy from the options below.

Tour Themes

  • Welcome to the Walters: Get acquainted with the history of the museum’s collection and explore how newly acquired contemporary works expand the stories and voices in our galleries.
  • Love Is in the Art: Friends, romantic partners, caregivers—this experience celebrates love of all kinds! Relish in artworks that embody the different ways love can make us feel.
  • Art with Flavor: Nothing brings people together like sharing a meal. Explore how visual and culinary arts intersect, often with mouthwatering results.
  • The Stylish Self: Few creative expressions are more personal than how we dress. Take a gender-expansive, cross-cultural look at how people throughout history have dressed and accessorized.

Activities

  • Art Making: Take inspiration from your tour and make a work of art to express yourself. Depending on your tour theme, you can make a card, a vision board, a self-portrait, or another themed artwork.
  • Extended Gallery Conversation: Keep the conversation going! Your staff tour guide will facilitate a themed discussion about the works you viewed on your tour in either the Cafe, Lower Level Lobby, or a gallery space.
  • Supported Self-Exploration: Your staff tour guide will help your group select Build Your Own Tour Cards based on the group’s interest and connection to your tour themes, supporting further explorations throughout the museum.
