Photography in the Museum
Members of the public are welcome to take photographs and video of works on display, unless otherwise noted, provided they do not endanger works of art, interfere with the viewing experience of others, impede access in any way, or violate copyright laws.
Please:
- Note all visitor guidelines and policies.
- Share photos from your visit! Tag @thewaltersartmuseum on Instagram, Facebook, and Threads.
- Use only handheld cameras (shoulder/neck straps are permitted).
- Look for signage in the galleries indicating where photography is or is not permissible.
- Respect other visitors who may not want to be photographed, videotaped, recorded, or bothered in any manner.
- Be aware that the Walters may take photos or video of activities for promotional use. Please provide written notification to [email protected] if you would like you or your child’s photo omitted from our materials.
Please do not:
- Use any flash.
- Bring equipment that extends the size and reach of the camera, including but not limited to tripods, monopods, and selfie sticks. They are not permitted in the galleries and can be stored in a complimentary locker during your visit.

The Walters reserves the right to refuse access and/or photo, video, or audio recording rights to any visitor or group, at any time, anywhere on museum property.
