Drop-in Art Making: Adorn & Adore Yourself

Create a self portrait and embellish it

Create a self portrait and embellish it with all the sparkles, patterns, and symbols that feel like you! Using the special exhibition Douriean Fletcher: Jewelry of the Afrofuture as inspiration, discover how you can use adornment to express and celebrate who you are.

Douriean Fletcher: Jewelry of the Afrofuture is dedicated to jewelry artist Douriean Fletcher, whose work has shaped the cinematic worlds of Marvel Studios’ Black Panther films and Coming 2 America. The exhibition explores the self-taught metalsmith’s jewelry as a powerful narrative tool in art, Black identity, and visual storytelling and spotlights works from the Walters collection that inspired the artist. The exhibition is on view from April 18 to August 9 in our Temporary Exhibition Gallery on Level 1.

Drop-in Art Making is a program where people of all ages and abilities can get creative and make a work of art inspired by our collection. Come with your family, friends, or on your own. Join us for a little while or stay the whole time! Little ones (0-5 years old) can enjoy expanded offerings during the first hour of the program.
