1 p.m., 2 p.m., 3 p.m.: 30-minute curator talks with Christine Sciacca starting in the Level 1 Lobby
1 p.m., 2 p.m., 3 p.m.: 30-minute curator talks with Tsedaye Makonnen starting in the Level 3 Lobby
11:30 a.m–12:30 p.m.; 1:30–3 p.m.: Coffee Ceremony by Keffa Coffee in the Sculpture Court
2:30–4 p.m.: Berbere Spice Blend Presentation by Korarima in the Cafe (spice samples while supplies last)
Celebrate the opening of Ethiopia at the Crossroads, the first major art exhibition in America to examine Ethiopian art in a global context. Learn about the exhibition with tours led by the exhibition’s curator, Christine Sciacca, Curator of European Art, 300-1400 CE, and guest contemporary curator for the exhibition and Ethiopian American multidisciplinary artist, Tsedaye Makonnen. Continue exploring the artistic traditions of Ethiopia from their origins to the present day through coffee ceremonies, art-making activities inspired by protective scrolls in the exhibition, and a presentation on the Berbere spice blend.
