Exhibition Preview Day: Luxury & Loss

feathered brooch

All museum partners are invited to preview the museum’s fall exhibition, Luxury & Loss: Feather, Shell, Tusk, Horn, before it opens to the public. For centuries, artists around the world created luxurious objects from rare animal materials prized for their beauty and rarity. As understanding of the harm to wildlife grew, these materials were banned in the 20th century. Today, these objects help spark reflection, greater care for the natural world, and a more responsible relationship with nature.
