Dressed in Gold

October 15, 2005–January 08, 2006

The Walters’ collection of manuscripts contains many splendid Italian Renaissance works. This exhibition showcased some of the most spectacular examples. These manuscripts originate from the major cultural centers in Italy, including Venice, Milan, Rome, Florence, and Naples, and are of many different types, from liturgical texts to private prayer books, and from epic poetry to diplomatic documents. This exhibition, the first time that these manuscripts have been on view together for decades, coincided with the opening of the early Italian painting galleries and highlighted the quality and depth of the Walters’ collection of Italian art.

The exhibition included an interactive computer kiosk. The exhibition was sponsored by Agora, Inc.
