We are closed on the following holidays: New Year's Day, Juneteenth, Independence Day, Thanksgiving Day, Christmas Eve, and Christmas Day.

Directions and Parking

The Walters Art Museum is located at 600 N. Charles St. in Baltimore’s historic Mount Vernon Cultural District, about one mile north of the Inner Harbor.

The main entrance is located on Centre Street near the corner of Centre and Cathedral Streets. Visitors may also access the museum via the Charles Street entrance. For visitors with limited mobility, please enter through our Centre Street entrance.

Parking

Visitor parking is available in the lot at 600 Cathedral St., on the corner of Centre and Cathedral Streets. For your convenience, reserve a spot online and pay in advance. Proceeds from the parking lot directly benefit the Walters Art Museum. Museum partners who give $500+ are eligible for reduced rates. There is also free and metered street parking in the neighborhood immediately surrounding the museum. Other nearby garages are located at 520 N. Charles St. and 601 N. Calvert St.

Ride Share

Use 10 W. Centre St., Baltimore, MD 21201 for ride share services.

Public Transit

There are several ways to reach the Walters using public transit. The museum is conveniently located near the free Charm City Circulator (Purple line, stop number 307), MTA bus lines (Silver, Green, Yellow, Pink, Purple, 95, 51, 103), and the Centre Street light rail stop. The Charm City Circulator is a free bus service in Baltimore.

During your visit, please…

Lighten Your Load

Store large bags over 11 × 15 in., instruments, and umbrellas in our complimentary lockers. Small backpacks can be worn on the front, carried to the side, or placed securely on a wheelchair or stroller.

Take Photos

Photography is encouraged unless otherwise noted. Please turn your flash off and store tripods and selfie sticks in a complimentary locker. If you want to learn more about photo shoots or camera restrictions, please review the full photography policy.

Protect the Art

Enjoy the objects on display, but please do not touch. No food, drink, or gum is allowed in the galleries. Flowers and plant materials are not permitted in the museum. Closed water bottles must be stored in a small bag or complimentary locker. To discuss medical accommodations, contact [email protected].

Explore with Children

Children under 13 must be accompanied by a caregiver 13 years or older. Strollers are allowed, and complimentary strollers are available at the Visitor Experience desk. Baby carriers must be worn on the front. Nursing and bottle feeding is allowed anywhere in the museum.

Group Tours and Field Trips

Explore the Walters Art Museum’s extraordinary collection with a guide or at your own pace. Tours at the Walters are free thanks to the generosity of visitors like you. Please consider a donation of $12 per person for your tour group. Accessibility and translation accommodations are available upon early request.

Public Tours

Free tours are regularly available for the general public. Check the calendar to learn about upcoming tour topics and to register.

Private Group Tours

Groups of 10 or more planning a visit to the Walters can request an interactive private guided tour during public hours at no charge.

School Field Trips

The Walters offers different types of free in-person field trips for grades Pre-K–12. Registration for all field trips is required.

Partner Tours

Partners of the museum enjoy access to curator- and conservator-led tours through Collection Connections, a series of onsite and virtual behind-the-scenes experiences with the Walters collection exclusively for partners of the museum.

College Tours

College and university faculty and students are invited to engage with the museum’s staff and collections through interactive guided tours or a self-guided visit during public hours.

Cafe and Store

The Walters Cafe

Open Wednesday and Friday–Sunday from 10 a.m.–4:45 p.m. and Thursday from 1–7:45 p.m.

Located on Level 1A, the Walters Cafe is a perfect spot for an afternoon coffee with friends or to take advantage of the museum’s free Wi-fi for a working lunch. Enjoy salads, sandwiches, and local products. On Thursday nights when the museum is open late, enjoy a glass of wine or beer before touring the galleries. The Walters Cafe offers a selection of vegan and gluten-free options. Allergy information is available onsite for all food items.

The Museum Store

Open Wednesday and Friday–Sunday, 10 a.m.–5 p.m.; Thursday, 1–8 p.m.

Adjacent to the Cafe, the Museum Store offers a wide selection of merchandise sure to please every art lover. Peruse books, stationery, education products, jewelry, home accessories, and toys that are carefully chosen from around the world and highlight the Walters’ collections and exhibitions. You can purchase a gift for that special someone or pick a soon-to-be cherished item for yourself. All purchases support the Walters educational and conservation programs. Partners receive a 10% discount; join today.
