Printmaking for Teens: Pattern Design

This three-part Teen Lab series gives teens the opportunity to see the creative process through from ideation to creation. They’ll get hands-on experience with printmaking by designing a pattern, carving linoleum, and making ink. Each part of the series will be led by a Walters Art Museum staff member who will answer questions from teens along the way about the creative process, printmaking, and working in a museum.

  • October 1:
Pattern Design with Elizabeth Norman, Assistant Manager of Gallery Experience & Interpretation
  • November 5:
Linocut Reliefs with Adam Franchino, Lead Art Handler
  • December 3:
Making Ink with Annette Ortiz, Conservation Scientist

Teen Lab is a space for teens to hang out, create art, and make friends. During this program, teens participate in creative activities, explore different cultures through art, and check out our galleries. Ages 13–18.

Elizabeth writes interpretive text that you see in the museum’s galleries and the Build Your Own Tour Cards. She also leads the Express and Explore Tours, 30-minute art experiences that center around a different theme each month and allow participants to unplug and unwind in our galleries through playful activities. In her free time, Elizabeth is pursuing a personal art practice in relief printing.
