Celebrate World Environment Day at the Walters Art Museum! Join us on Thursday, June 5, and take part in our eco-friendly initiative. Visitors to the museum can show a recently used ticket on their CharmPass app, the official mobile ticketing app for MDOT MTA, for a discount at the Walters Cafe and the Museum Store. Participants receive a 10% discount on purchases at the Walters Cafe and a 20% discount on purchases of $50 or more at the Museum Store.

- Our free drop-in art-making programs (Drop-in Art Making and Make and Mingle) utilize recycled or reused materials sourced from Scrap Baltimore. This collaboration not only reduces waste, it also supports a local community partner.

- Our Visitor Experience team encourages visitors to scan a QR code for a digital map in an effort to reduce the use of paper maps.
- We incorporate sustainable design into our exhibition process whenever possible by repurposing materials (eagle-eyed visitors will notice the same paint color utilized multiple galleries for this reason); bookending courier trips or arranging virtual couriers; auditing lighting; and expanding HVAC systems and ranges. These steps are being taken as part of the Bizot Green Protocol.
- Three new energy-efficient humidifiers have recently been installed in our Centre Street building, which keeps the art in this building safe.
- We will debut electric vehicle charging stations in our parking lot in 2026.
About the Walters Cafe and Museum Store
Located on Level 1, the Walters Cafe is a perfect spot for an afternoon coffee with friends or to take advantage of the museum’s free Wi-fi for a working lunch. Enjoy salads, sandwiches, wine, beer, and local products.
Adjacent to the Cafe, the Museum Store offers a wide selection of merchandise sure to please every art lover. Peruse books, stationery, education products, jewelry, and home accessories that are carefully chosen from around the world and highlight the Walters collections and exhibitions. All purchases support the Walters educational and conservation programs.
