Looking to visit the collection of the Walters Art Museum? Communicate with us to make sure that the museum space is available at the time you want to visit.
Want a general introduction to the museum? Book a “Highlights of the Walters Collection” tour with a docent. Great for orienting yourself to the cultural landscape of Baltimore.
Join us in historic Mount Vernon for a walking tour of the Enoch Pratt Free Library, the Maryland Center for History and Culture, and the Walters Art Museum. Each institution’s staff will briefly introduce their space and explain how students can use the resources at each site. Upcoming tours include Get to Know the City! on Thursday, September 5, 1-3:30 p.m., and Primary Sources and Archives in Baltimore on Thursday, October 3, 1-3:30 p.m.
Interested in a specific exhibition or content area? Contact us to arrange a tour with our curators. Availability varies.
Interested in a career that combines science and art? Join us for a tour guided by conservators and scientists in the Department of Conservation, Collections, and Technical Research. You will learn about the work being done to preserve the Walters collection and will visit three conservation laboratories. Tours will be offered the weeks of October 7, November 4, and November 11. Times to be coordinated after receipt of email expressing interest. Capacity: 10 participants.
Learn more about art conservators and their role in exhibitions by joining us for a gallery tour of our current installation, Objects of Curiosity: What Will We Discover? Hear more about careers in conservation and see the work of our conservators in the gallery. Tours will be offered the weeks of October 7, November 4, and November 11. Times to be coordinated after receipt of an email expressing interest. Capacity: 20 participants.
Love art and museums? Are you thinking of working in cultural heritage? Meet with Walters staff members and hear about the varied journeys that led them to careers in the museum world. This is perfect if you are curious about museum jobs and how to prepare for them. Career Panels will be offered the weeks of October 28 and December 2. Times will be coordinated after we receive your email expressing interest. Capacity: 20 participants.

Are you studying art education? Consider teaching Sketching Sessions, a program in which we invite the public to join us for an evening of drawing in the galleries with light art instruction. To apply to teach a sketching session, submit a resume, a faculty letter of recommendation, and a draft lesson plan. Applications are accepted on a rolling basis.
Are you a musician looking for a chance to perform in public? Accompany our gallery drawing program for 45 minutes as a soloist or for the entire 90 minutes as part of a duet. Apply to play music for a sketching session by submitting a resume and recording of a performance sample. Applications accepted on a rolling basis.

Are you curious to see something in person? Most of the collection has been photographed and is available for you to use under a Creative Commons Zero license. Browse our large collection of rare books and manuscripts online, or check out our online collection to find out if an artwork is on view. Note: If an object is not on view, email us to see if we can arrange for you to see it.
