Book Reading by Debra Spark

Date
Saturday, September 29, 2012
Time

Book Reading by Debra Spark

Debra Spark, novelist and master writing teacher, will visit the museum to read from her recently published work of fiction, The Pretty Girl. From Victorian toy theatres to a painting with a mysterious story behind it to a graphic novelist’s battle with the schizophrenia that causes her cartoon characters to march off the page, the novella and six stories in Debra Spark’s The Pretty Girl revolve around artists, artistry, and the magical—sometimes malicious—deceptions they create. Publisher’s Weekly has praised The Pretty Girl for “offering quirky surprises at every turn, as ordinary characters transcend their mundane lives.” Stop in to the museum’s Sculpture Court while you are visiting the Baltimore Book Festival to hear a short reading by Spark, listen to her speak on the process and craft of writing, and have your book signed.
