Thursday Night Film: Othello, starring Laurence Fishburne

Thursday, November 8, 2012

06:00 PM–08:30 PM

Come to the Walters this Thursday evening and watch Laurence Fishburne star as Othello, in the 1995 film interpretation of Shakespeare’s play. This more modern presentation of the classic story provides the viewer with another interpretation of this tragic, but thrilling tale! Duped by the jealous and petty Iago into believing that his beloved wife Desdemona has been unfaithful, Othello takes impulsive action that will haunt him until his dying day.  This movie is a great way to prep for the engaging discussion of Othello next Thursday evening with Dr. Gail Kern Paster, Folger Shakespeare Library Director Emeritus, and Leslie King-Hammond, Graduate Dean Emeritus and Founding Director for the Center for Race and Culture at MICA.

New showtime at 6p.m. Film runs 123 minutes.
