Inventing the Modern World: Decorative Arts at the World

The installation From Rye to Raphael: The Walters Story features dazzling jewelry by Tiffany and Lalique collected by Henry Walters at International Exhibitions and World’s Fairs. Join author and curator Jason Busch and learn more about the impact of World's Fairs on the development of innovative design and modern living. From London’s Great Exhibition in 1851 to the New York World’s Fair in 1939, World’s Fairs acted as important marketplaces for democratizing design, exposing countless visitors to the latest artistic and technological achievements of their time.

Jason T. Busch is Deputy Director for Curatorial Affairs and Museum Programs at the Saint Louis Art Museum.
