Led by artist Kelly Laughlin and inspired by Pearls on a String: Artists, Patrons, and Poets at the Great Islamic Courts, the third installment of this three-part workshop series explores the history of books and manuscripts in Islamic culture. Participants will learn the terms and techniques of Islamic bookbinding, and discover new means of expression by creating their own hand-bound volume. Participants are encouraged to use the marbled paper from the first two workshops.
Kelly Laughlin is a bookmaker and museum educator from Baltimore, Maryland.
Make Night is a unique, dynamic museum program blending good wine and craft beer, great company, and fantastic art-making experiences led by local creative minds. Pre-registration required. Each Make Night includes one drink ticket.
