Walk-In Tour: Nineteenth-Century Art

This free tour of nineteenth-century art covers American and European painting and sculpture.

The permanent collection at the Walters Art Museum affords an overview of nineteenth-century painting and is especially strong in European art. The collection is rich in works by Ingres and Delacroix, members of the Barbizon school, such as Millet and Rousseau, and the academic masters Gérôme and Alma-Tadema. Highlights from the later 19th century include Monet’s sun-dappled portrait, Springtime; Sisley’s panoramic view of the Seine Valley, The Terrace at St.-Germain, Spring; and Manet’s masterpiece,The Café Concert.

No reservations are required. This is one of our free, Sunday walk-in tours.
